Nose broken in Christmas day assault

A man has been left with a broken nose after being assaulted on Christmas day.

Police say the assault occurred in the Lapwing Way area of Derry in the early hours of December 25.

“It was reported that shortly after 12.30am a window of a house in the area was smashed and a 31 year old man assaulted in the street by 2 unknown men,” a PSNI spokesman says.

“The man sustained a suspected broken nose and cuts to his head in the incident. He was treated in hospital for the injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The offenders are described as being 19-20 years old, approximately 5’9” tall. One was wearing a black top and blue jeans and the other a white top and blue jeans.”
