Police are appealing for information following a paramilitary-style shooting in Derry overnight.
Detective Inspector Conor McStravick said police received a call at around 10.25pm on Wednesday alerting them to a shooting incident in Corrib Court area of Ballymagroarty area,
He added: “A 30-year-old man received a gunshot wound to his leg.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, or if someone would prefer to give information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously.”
Commenting on the shooting, Sinn Féin Councillor for the area Eric McGinley said:
“There is no place for guns on the streets of our city.
“The community does not want this and the people behind these actions need to stop.”
