A pensioner who crashed his car into two parked vehicles has been disqualified from driving.
Thomas Woods, with an address in Hill Close, Ballykelly, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath on May 29, last year.
Derry Magistrates Court heard police were called to the traffic accident in Harberton Park.
Woods had crashed into two parked cars and driven away.
The 78-year-old was injured in the collision and police attended the hospital to get a specimen of breath.
However, he failed to provide the specimen.
Defence solicitor Maeliosa Barr said his client had consumed alcohol after receiving bad news about a friend.
He said Woods has been driving for almost 60 years.
Mr Barr added it was not a case of hit and run, but said the 78-year-old ‘wasn’t thinking straight’ when the crash occurred.
District Judge Barney McElholm disqualified Woods from driving for 14 months and fined him £150.
