Pleaded guilty to assault on ex-partner

A man with 11 previous convictions for domestic violence has pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex-partner.

Anthony David Dalzell, of Iniscarn Crescent, pleaded guilty to common assault and possession of cannabis.

The charges relate to an incident on December 6, last year.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled after it was revealed the 28-year-old has 11 previous convictions for domestic incidents.

District Judge Barney McElholm granted an application for a restraining order. Dalzell is banned from pestering, molesting, threatening or intimidating the injured party for five years. He is also banned from posting anything on social media sites in relation to the injured party during that period.

The 28-year-old was released on continuing bail and will appear in court again on April 25 for sentence.
