Police attacked by stone throwers

Police investigating the discovery of a suspicious object in Derry have come under attack from stone throwers.

Youths hurled stones and other missiles at police who were investigating reports of a suspicious object in the Madam’s Bank Road area of the city at around 7pm on Sunday night.

A fire was also lit across the road.

Police say nothing suspicious was found in the area.

A 13-year-old boy is due in court this morning in connection to the incident, charged with riotous behaviour and criminal damage
