A woman has been indecently assaulted in Derry city centre.

Police say the woman was attacked on Sunday morning (August 5) while she was walking along Magazine Street.

“Sometime between 2.30am and 3am, a 22 yr-old woman was walking along Magazine Street when she was grabbed by a male and assaulted,” a PSNI spokeswoman says.

“The woman managed to break free and run off. The male is described as being in his early to mid twenties, 6’2” tall, muscular build with a fat face, tanned skin and dark hair, spiky on top, gelled down at front. He was wearing a blue coloured T-shirt and possibly blue jeans. He has a tribal style tattoo on his inner right forearm. He had a local Derry accent.”

Police are asking anyone who may be able to help identify the male or who may have seen him in the city centre during the early hours of Sunday morning to contact them at Police at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
