Police in appeal after Waterside shooting

Police are appealing for information after three shots were fired at the window of an upstairs flat in Derry’s Waterside.

The incident at Heron Way was reported to police yesterday morning but a PSNI spokeswoman said it may have happened sometime during the previous night.

No-one was in the flat at the time.

Waterside SDLP councillor Gerard Diver condemned the incident.

“My immediate reaction is one of shock that a firearm has been discharged in a residential area. I have no doubt the local community will reject this sort of behaviour.”

He urged anyone with information to pass it to the PSNI.

Anyone who can help police with their enquiries is asked to telephone 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
