Police investigate after Good Samaritan has car hijacked

Detectives are appealing for information following a hijacking in the Racecourse Road area of Derry last night, Friday June 6.

It was reported that shortly after 10.30pm a man was driving along the Racecourse Road when he noticed two males at the side of the road.

One of the males appeared to be ill and the man stopped to offer assistance. When he exited the vehicle one of the males pushed him to the ground and both then drove off in his silver coloured Mitsubishi pick-up.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later in the Bloomfield Park area of the City.

One of the males is described as being in his late 20’s, approximately 5’10” tall, of medium build, with short black hair. He was wearing dark hooded sweat-top, dark jacket with a high collar and jeans.

The second male is described as being aged in his early 20’s, approximately 5’8” tall, of thin build, with short brown hair. He was wearing jeans and a dark sweat-top.

Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101.
