Police probe Derry arson attack

Police have appealed for information this morning following an overnight arson attack in the city.

At around 2:05am, a police spokesperson it was reported that a car, a Volkswagen Passat was on fire at the Westland Terrace area. Two other cars parked in the area were also damaged due to the fire. the fire service attended the scene to deal with the incident.

Police say they would like to speak to a male, believed to be in his 20’s who was seen heading towards the Laubernam Terrace area shortly after 2:05am.

The spokesperson added: “At this stage, police are treating this incident as arson. Enquiries are continuing.”

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them on the new non-emergency number 101.
