Police seek taxi queue assault witness


Police in Derry are trying to trace a man who may have witnessed an assault on two girls in the city centre at the weekend.

The investigating officer said that in the early hours of Saturday, May 23rd, two teenage girls were assaulted by an older man and woman while waiting for a taxi close to a hotel at Harbour Square.

An unknown man intervened and pushed the assailants away.

A 30-year-old woman and a man aged 32 were arrested and later bailed pending further enquiries.
