Polish man accused of Waterside burglary

A Polish man has appeared in court accused of breaking into a Waterside home.

Damian Strycharczuk, of Lisnagowan Court, is charged with burglary with intent to steal on March 24.

The charge relates to an alleged incident at a house in Kilfennan.

It was revealed to the court the 28-year-old was currently on bail for a similar offence in Ballymena and he had breached the conditions of this bail.

An investigating officer said Strycharczuk failed to sign bail, failed to notify police of a new address and had consumed alcohol.

Defence counsel Eoghan Devlin said these breaches of bail were accepted by his client. He added that there would be no application for bail at this time.

The 28-year-old was remanded in custody and will appear in court, again via videolink, on April 18.
