Police in Derry have issued an additional appeal for information following the arrest of two men on Friday, October 10, in connection with an attempted robbery at shop in the Northland Avenue area of the city.

The incident took place around 9pm. Police are now asking taxi drivers who may have picked up or dropped off fares in the vicinity to cone forward and assist in their inquiries.

Just before 9pm a man armed with a knife had entered the shop and demanded money. No money was handed over and the suspect was restrained by members of the public and duly arrested on the arrival of police at the scene. A second man believed to have been involved in this incident was arrested a short time later. The men, both aged 19, remain in custody at this time helping with enquiries.

Anyone who has information in relation to the attempted robbery is asked to contact CID in Strand Road on 101.
