Reynolds accused may face new charge Reynolds

A man charged in connection with the death of Constable Phillipa Reynolds may face a manslaughter charge.

27-year-old Constable Reynolds died after a stolen 4x4 landcruiser crashed into the police car she was travelling in.

Shane Christopher Frane, whose address is given on court papers as Simon Community, Bonds Hill, currently faces 11 charges including causing death by dangerous driving on February 2. The 25-year-old is alleged to have been the driver of the stolen vehicle.

At a remand hearing at Derry Magistrates Court, a prosecutor told the court that the Public Prosecution Service have decided the “appropriate charge for the driver is manslaughter” but the charges would be confirmed on the next date.

Frane, and a co-accused 24-year-old Conor Tyrone Clarence, also of Simon Community, were remanded in custody until September 12.
