A man who admitted an unprovoked assault has had an eight month sentence suspended for two years.
Ronan James Paul Doherty, of Cross Street, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon and resisting police.
The 25-year-old also admitted common assault and attempted theft. The offences were committed between February 2013 and January last year.
The court heard the injured party was left unconscious as a result of the assault.
