Shots fired at Claudy home

Two shots have been fired at a house in Claudy.

Police are appealing for information after the shots were fired at the house in the Muldonagh Road area around 0540 this morning.

It is understood one shot hit the front door of the house while the other hit the living room window.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Local politicians have condemned the shooting.

SDLP Councillor Brenda Stevenson said: “This cowardly attack put people’s lives in danger and has shocked residents in the local area.

“It is fortunate that the man who was in the house at the time was not seriously injured or worse in this attack.

“I urge anyone with information to contact police.”

Sinn Fein’s Cathy Nelis said: “Whoever carried out this attack need to state publicly the rationale behind it? Such attacks are dangerous, futile and will achieve nothing other than strike fear into the local community.

“I would urge anyone with information on this attack to contact the police”
