A Derry man who fraudulently sold MTV Crashes tickets has been given a three month sentence suspended for 12 months.
Martin Frank McLaughlin, whose address was given on court papers as Creggan Heights, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation when he appeared at Derry Magistrate’s Court last week.
McLaughlin fraudulently sold tickets to the MTV Crashes event to a woman on September 2 last year.
The music event took place last weekend in Ebrington Square and was attended by more than 10,000 people.
The 41-year-old was released on bail until yesterday to allow him to get compensation for the injured party.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said his client had lodged £50 with the court office and he urged the judge to leave something ‘hanging over’ McLaughlin.
District Judge Barney McElholm suspended the three month sentence and imposed a £50 compensation order.
