Patrick Joseph Conaghan, of Summer Meadows Mews, was convicted of harassing the woman between August and November, last year.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard the 41-year-old sent messages about his ex-wife to their children.

He also drove past her house, after she had suffered a miscarriage, and shouted ‘ha ha, heard you lost your b******’.

The court was told the injured party was ‘distraught’ and felt intimidated by her ex-husband.

Defence counsel Steven Mooney said his client has no previous convictions and had not been in contact with the woman since this incident.

Suspending the sentence, District Judge Barney McElholm also imposed a restraining order for three years with a number of conditions.
