A 19-year-old man has appeared in court accused of assaulting his partner.
Tyrone Irwin, of Main Street, Feeny, is further charged with theft of a £300 mobile phone, criminal damage and attempted criminal damage.
The charges relate to an alleged incident on December 13.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court police opposed bail.
He said the proposed bail address is just ‘yards’ away from where the alleged injured party lives.
The officer accepted that Irwin does not have a criminal record and police would not oppose bail provided an address outside the village could be obtained.
Concerns were also raised about an alternative bail address in Dungiven with the teenagers twin sister.
The bail application was adjourned to see if hostel accommodation could be obtained.
Irwin was remanded in custody to appear in court again via videolink on Thursday.
