Teen repeatedly punched in face during gang assault

Two teenage boys have been assaulted by a gang of youths in the Carnhill area of Derry.

Police say one of the victims was repeatedly punched in the face during the incident which occurred on Saturday, April 7.

Releasing details of the incident today, a PSNI spokeswoman said: “At around 7pm, two 17 year-old males were walking along Glengalliagh Road near the entrance to Carnhill estate when they were set upon by a group of eight unknown youths. One of the victims was repeatedly punched and sustained injuries to his face.”

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to help identify the culprits is asked to contact police at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000,” the spokeswoman added.
