Teenager targeted in city centre robbery attempt

PSNI Detectives in Derry are investigating an attempted street robbery in the Market Street area of Derry yesterday.

Detective Constable Rory McPhillips said: “At around 2.30pm on Tuesday, a 16 year-old-girl, walking with a friend, was approached by two males who tried to take her phone and purse from her hands.

“There was a brief struggle before the males ran off down the steps to the side of the Millennium Forum.”

One of the males is described as between 14 and 16 years old, about 5’6” in height, slim build, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue zip-up jacket with the hood up covering his face. The second teenage male is described as wearing a blue and white hooded top.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID at Strand Road police station on 101.
