Thirteen year old arrested as police appeal over spate of Derry burglaries

A 13-year old has been arrested in connection to a burglary in the Brandywell area of Derry.

Police say the youth has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries, after a sum of money was stolen from a house in Southend Park on Sunday. They are also appealing for information on a second youth seen in the area.

It was one of a number of incidents over the weekend across the city.

PSNI Inspector Tony Moore said two houses at Ivy Mead were entered between 10am on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. Money was stolen from one of the houses.

Meanwhile, money was also stolen from a house in the Gobnascale area on Saturday. The house at Tamneymore Park was entered through a rear window.

Information can be given to the PSNI on the police non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers Charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
