A 22-year-old threw a stone at a woman’s house because she was ‘stuck up,’ a court has heard.
Rebecca Bishop, of Pine Street, pleaded guilty to causing damage to a door on August 9.
She also admitted disorderly behaviour in the May Street area of the city on the same date.
Derry Magistrate’s Court heard the police were at another address in the street when they saw Bishop throwing stones at a house.
Glass in the front door of this property was smashed. The officers told her to stop and she swore at them in reply.
During interview, Bishop said she was drunk and threw stones at the property because she believed the resident was ‘stuck up.’
However, the court was told the 22-year-old didn’t know the injured party.
A defence solicitor said his client accepts her behaviour was ‘totally inappropriate’ and is willing to pay for the damage.
Deputy District Judge Oonagh Mullan imposed a probation order for 12 months. She also ordered Bishop to complete 40 hours community service and to pay £200 compensation to the injured party.
