A trial date has been set for a Derry man accused of posting a grossly offensive, menacing, indecent or obscene message on Facebook.
Darryl O’Donnell, of Belevedere Park, Foyle Springs denies a charge of improper use of communications on June 20, last year.
The charge relates to alleged comments posted on the social networking site about DUP MP Gregory Campbell and his reaction to the Saville Report.
The 31-year-old is set to contest the charges on March 23. The hearing is expected to last an hour and a half.
Defence solicitor Kieran Harkin told the court it is anticipated there will be substantial legal argument in the case.
It was revealed to Derry Magistrate’s Court today that a statement made to the police by the East Derry MP has not been disclosed to O’Donnell’s defence team.
District Judge Barney McElholm did not direct the disclosure of the statement, however asked the prosecution to consider their position before March 2 when the case is to be reviewed.
