Woman lashed out at police

A woman who lashed out at police officers has been given a conditional discharge.

Tina Cruickshank, of Kinsale Park, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, assault on police and resisting police.

The offences were committed in April and May.

Derry Magistrates Court heard police were concerned about the 20-year-old’s safety. When officers approached her she became agitated, called police ‘black b*******’ and tried to headbutt an officer.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley told the court his client was ‘in a bad place’ at the time of the offences and has sought assistance.

Imposing an 18 month conditional discharge, District Judge Ted Magill advised Cruickshank ‘if you see police officers just turn and walk away’.
