An investigation has been launched after a woman on a mobility scooter was hit by a car in Derry.

Police said they are making enquiries into a collision, which occurred when a car reversed into the woman, who was on a mobility scooter and are seeking assistance in identifying the car driver.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Shortly after 1pm on Thursday, June 5th, the woman was stationary in her scooter in the car park of the B&M store at Strand Road when a silver Volkswagen Passat reversed into her.

“Although the woman was not hurt, the scooter was tipped over and badly damaged.

“The driver of the car got out and spoke briefly to the woman, but then drove off without providing her details.”

Anyone who was in the area and saw what happened is asked to call police at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting the reference number 547 05/06/14.
