A warning has been issued over a string of burglaries in the Upper Galliagh area.
PSNI officers have been asked to step up patrols in the area following the incidents.
Sinn Féin Councillor for the area Sandra Duffy said:
“There has been a spate of burglaries around the Woodbrook and Pinetrees area over the last number of weeks, with the latest incident being on Wednesday night.
“The issue has been raised with the PSNI who are aware of the rise in criminal activity in the area.
“I have asked them to increase their patrols in the area and the local community safety team have delivered a leaflet advising residents of their personal security.”
Colr. Duffy added: “A lot of these incidents are opportunistic with thieves checking for open doors, windows and cars that are unlocked.
“I would like to again appeal to residents to ensure that they secure their property when they are going out and at night, as these thieves will take any opportunity that presents itself.”
