Culdaff FC celebrates 40th anniversary

Culdaff FC are holding a weekend of events on 6/7/8 July, 2012 to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Events organised include a Golden Oldies football game, Monster Sports Quiz, Golf Classic, Festival of Football day - all culminating with a function in McGrorys and grand draw which will be launched at Easter.

All past players, committee members, supporters are invited to attend. Anyone with any memorabilia relating to the club are asked to submit the same for a booklet to any member of the club. More details will follow in due course

Culdaff FC Golf Classic will be held in Greencastle GC on Saturday, 7th July with thousands of Euros of prizes to be won on the day. The cost per team is €100. A time sheet is in operation and spots can be booked by contacting Neil on 087-7822294 or Brian on 086-3401139.

Official GUI /ILGU handicaps are necessary.

The Culdaff Arms are running a weekly Bonus Ball draw with tickets at €2 and €50 for the winner of the Bonus Ball each week.Proceeds are to be split between Culdaff FC and The RNLI.

All club members are urged to support this venture and the club would like to thank the staff of the Culdaff Arms.

Training will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays this week at the usual time.

This week the first team host Glengad United in the Credit Union Cup while the Reserves are away to Dunree.

Last week the first team defeated Buncrana 2-1 with Dean O’Connor getting both goals while the Reserves performed really well before going down 3-1 in the cup to Illies Celtic with Dillon Ruddy on the mark.

Numbers drawn in last week’s lotto draw on 2nd Feb were 3-4-5-8-10-11.

There was no jackpot winner and € 20 winners were Cadan Long Dunross, Eddie McDaid, St Bodens and Kieran Borden, Cloncha, Culdaff.

Carn FC

Carndonagh FC would like to offer their sympathy to the family of the late John Doherty (Saddler) who passed away last week.

John was a well known, respected and highly thought of man in Carndonagh and throughout the wider community.

John served as Honorary Life President of Carndonagh FC up until his death, a position which he took great honour in holding. His association with football and Carndonagh FC goes back many decades and it is a tradition which still runs through the club today with his grandchildren and great grandchildren active in the club. May he rest in peace.

There will be a members meeting for all players, committee members and management on Sunday, 19th February after the first team’s home game at St Patricks Park at 4pm. Everyone who is a member of the club is urged to attend as matters arising will affect everyone involved with the club.

Lines for the club’s bonsu ball can be bought during the week in The Sportsman’s and The Arch Inn. For €2 per line players get the chance to win €50 if they correctly choose the lotto bonus ball. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this fundraiser.

Illies Celtic

The Senior team played Culdaff Res in the O’Gara Cup last week and won 3-1 with Niall McDaid scoring a hatrick.

Next week it’s Moville in the Credit Union Cup.

The Reserves match against Glengad Res was cancelled and their next match is on 19th February at home to Carndonagh in the league.

Senior and Reserves training on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30 sharp. Under-16s will be training at this time as well new members very welcome at this age group .

Silver Circle cards will be on sale shortly and can be bought from any player or committee member.

The Under-12 futsal was on Wednesday last and Illies won 3 and drew 1. This means we topped the group and will play in division one finals to be played on Wednesday night next.

Under 10 futsal we played in the division 3 finals last Saturday and won the league well done to all the players.

School team 11 a side played a friendly against cloontagh last Saturday and won 2-1.

Under-14 boys training will be on Saturday mornings from 10.30 am till 12 noon.

Gleneely Colts

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week. Numbers drawn were 1-4-21-24 and next week’s jackpot is now €6,750. Twenty Euro winners were Charlie Shiels, Carn, Emma Doherty, Carrowmore, Patsy Donaghy, Carrowmore, Danielle & Brian Houghton, Gleneely and Michael Harkin, Ourt. Moville Celtic youth football has a number of procedures in place in regard to youth players and their eligibility to play with the club. Any player coming to the club or leaving needs to meet certain conditions.

Greencastle FC

There was no Jackpot winner in this weeks ‘Guess the Score’. Claire Lake won €30 for two correct scores. The scores were 3-2, 2-0, 2-1, 1-2.

Next week’s Jackpot is €8650. The ‘Guess the Score’ cards are available in the local shops, pubs or from any club members.

The first team travelled to the Crua to play Glengad and were beaten.

The Reserves entertained Rasheeny Reserves at Chapel Lane and came away with a 1-1 draw.

Training for the first team and Reserve team continues on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Training for the U14 girls will continues Monday nights from 7-8pm.

The Monthly Quiz took place in the Séan Tí Lounge on Friday night. Quiz winners were Duncan Moir, Chippy, Chopper John and Stephen Harrison. Thnks to quiz masters for the night, Greg and Una McMahon.

The Reserves won 9-1 on Sunday against Sea Rovers with Eoghan Mc Gilloway, Stephen Grant and Aiden Lynch getting two goals each, Daniel Mc Laughlin, John McCloskey and Paul Hegarty with the other goals.

Next week the Reserves are away to Clonmany.

The first team lost 1-0 away to Clonmany and next week they are at home to Clonmany in the Credit Union Cup with a 1-30pm kick off.

The club held a ceili last Friday night in St Mary’s Hall.Thanks to all who helped.

Aileach FC

Aileach first team recorded a 2-0 victory over Cockhill at the Lakeside with Darren McMonagle and Ciaran Craig scoring the goals. Next week the first team are away to Cockhill in the Credit Union Cup, while our Reserves play Cockhill Reserves at the Lakeside in the Reserve Shield Semi Final with an 11am kick off.

Senior and Reserve training continues as usual on Tuesday and Thursday night at 7pm.

Aileach continue their underage Acedemy next Saturday with the following times:

Under 10 from 10am - Midday

Under 12 from Midday - 2pm

Under 14 & Under 16 from 2pm - 4pm

The club has organised a Kick Start 1 course at our facilities on Saturday, 18th February.

Anyone willing to help with the underage Academy is welcome to do the course.

The club has now launched its 300 club fundraising drive.Tickets are €2 per week and the monthly prizes are 1st prize - €500 and six prizes of €50. If anyone with a ticket pays all 50 weeks, they enter a special draw at the end of the 50 weeks for 1st prize - €1000 and 4 prizes of €100.

Coaching Course

There will be a Kick Start II coaching course in Maginn Park on Saturday, 25th February from 9am – 6pm and Saturday, 3rd March from 9am -6pm.

There are a limited number of places available and clubs are advised it is on a first come first served basis.
