Culture, technology and feminism on Derry’s Walls

Derry actress and writer, Amanda Doherty, will take to the Derry Walls tomorrow with her new one woman production, ‘Inheritance’. which is being staged as part of the CultureTECH Festival. In an exciting link up between the traditional and digital arts, audience members are invited to download a free podcast which forms an integral part of the production.

The mysterious ‘Inheritance’ presents the story of the discovery of an unidentified body found. Piece by piece the narrator and the audience attempt to piece together an image of who she was, what her life became and, more importantly, what became of her.

This innovative piece of theatre examines both the cultural and social climate Derry has inherited and the type of climate we will leave behind. In ‘Inheritance,’ Doherty poses the difficult question: ‘how much of our life is predetermined at birth and what exactly does that mean for a person from the City of Culture?’ Audience members are asked to assemble on the Derry Walls, opposite the Guildhall, for a 2pm start tomorrow.
