Students across Inishowen received their Junior Certificate results on Wednesday, with top results across the board.
Students from the peninsula’s five secondary schools, Crana College, Scoil Mhuire, Carndonagh Community School, Moville Community School and Colaiste Chineal Eoghain joined 60,000 from across the country, with growing percentage sitting Higher level papers in most of the main subjects.
Principal of Carndonagh Community School, Paul Fiorentini, said they were very happy with all the results achieved.
One student, Saveena Crossan, obtained 10 A’s.
Mr. Fiorentini said there were also many ‘A’ results at higher level, students who had achieved the mark in nine, eight and seven subjects.
He said there was much excitement in the school on Wednesday, with some parents attending the school too to hear the results.
Mr Fiorentini added: “They all did really well and achieved great grades in all subjects.”
At Scoil Mhuire in Buncrana, the results were also very strong, with particularly high marks in subjects such as art, Irish and “as always,” science.
Principal, Rosaleen Grant, said she was “very pleased” with the results achieved by all students adding that results day were a “great day.”
She said: “Our top girl was Caityln McColgan and top boy was Noel McGonagle. All of the students did really well. They’ve had a great day today, but tomorrow it’s back focusing on the Leaving Certificate again.”
