The love of country music has been in Derek Ryan’s heart since he was twelve when he was inspired by seeing Garth Brooks in concert.

Now, many years later, Derek has become one of the most talked about musicians in the country.

He now has his own five piece band, thousands of fans and four critically acclaimed albums to his name.

2014 is Derek’s third year touring the UK and Ireland – and on the 7th March Derek is bringing his tour to Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey.

Earlier this year at the Sunday World annual award ceremony, Derek was award with “Best Live Performer of the Year”. The “Raggle Taggle Gypsy” singer was overwhelmed with his award and tweeted this picture along with the caption “Delighted to have been awarded live performer of the year at the Sunday World country music tonight!”

Late in 2013, Derek released his fourth album, ‘Country Soul’, which is a fourteen track album that features six of his self-penned compositions and which also includes his unique take on this summer’s biggest dance floor anthem; ‘Wake me Up’. Having recorded the album last summer, it draws on a mix of songs that are pure country, Irish country, rock and roll and chart classics.

Having become a prolific writer in the last few years, with Daniel O’Donnell recording two of Derek’s own songs, the former D-Side lead singer has teamed up with some co-writers on ‘Welcome Home (The Gathering)’, ‘Leave A Light On’ and ‘Country Soul’. The album also features his summer single ‘100 Numbers’ that was written whilst living in a bedsit in London where he played bars and clubs on his own.

The Co. Carlow man said that life on the road has been a huge inspiration for his song writing. “The new album has a collection of songs, with something to suit everyone.”

He has also recently released his first LIVE DVD recording called “Derek Ryan, the Entertainer”, which has been flying off the shelves since its release in November, and subsequently, he will be releasing a LIVE CD over the next few weeks.

Do not miss what is set to be a fantastic night! The “Best Live Performer of the Year” will be in Jackson’s Hotel on the 7th March, with doors opening at 9.00pm (STRICTLY OVER 18’S).
