Derry bus depot boss offering free returns for the price of a single fare

Derry bus depot manager Alan Young is offering Ulsterbus and Goldline customers free return travel after 9.30am for the price of a single ticket up until the New Year.

The local Service Delivery Manager said: “This is great news for our customers. Winter can often be a very expensive season so our ‘Free Returns’ offer will help cut the cost of travel during the following months for everything from shopping trips to dinner dates and family days out visiting special events taking place right across Northern Ireland.

“We also hope this offer of day return travel for the price of a single will attract more visitors to this area to explore local attractions, shop and have a bite to eat.

“We want to make Translink your first choice for travel in Northern Ireland this Winter; with modern bus and coach travel you’ll arrive in comfort and de-stressed to enjoy all your destination has to offer while also knowing you’ve made an environmentally-friendly and safe journey choice.

“And, with the added benefit of free Wi-Fi on-board Goldline services, you can even do a bit of online research on your chosen destination before you arrive,” he said.

NI Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said: “This is a fantastic offer which we would encourage all shoppers to get on board with before and after Christmas. This is also good news for local traders in towns and cities and will hopefully increase footfall.”

“NIIRTA wants to see public transport becoming shoppers’ first option this season.”
