Crews from Crescent Link and Northland Fire Stations will host the Firefighters Charity Ball 2016 on Saturday 22nd October at the City Hotel.

The event will raise money for two local charities both of which are close to the hearts of local firefighters – Foyle Hospice and Alzheimer’s Society.

Speaking ahead of the event, Firefighter Gavin Doherty from Northland Fire Station, said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing back our charity ball to help raise much needed funds for 2 charities that provide vital support services to so many people in our city.

Tickets for the Charity Ball are now on sale and we are hoping local people will come out to support our event as in previous years. All the money raised will be split equally between the two charities.”

He added: “It promises to be a great evening. The black-tie event will begin at 7pm on Saturday October 22, with a Champagne reception followed by a five course evening meal. There will be a range of spot prizes throughout the evening followed by a charity draw and auction. The music for the gala evening will be provided by The Hit Men.”

Mr Doherty said it has now become something of a tradition between the two local Fire Stations to organise a charity ball every couple of years.

“We always welcome the support of the wider community in making it a night to remember,” he said.

“We would also be grateful if local businesses could kindly sponsor a table or donate a gift towards the prize draw and auction.”

Tickets are limited but there is still time to get tickets and support the local firefighters fundraiser, by emailing them at: [email protected] or phone 02871264321 and leave your details.

“Thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets so far and for the generous auction donations,” Mr Doherty said.
