A Derry cinema has said tickets for the hotly anticipated new Star Wars film have become their fastest selling tickets of all time.
Tickets for the midnight showing of the seventh film in the franchise went on sale just over 24 hours ago.
Brunswick Moviebowl has said the demand for them among Derry people is ‘phenomenal’ and further shows will be added.
The cinema is showing the movie at 00:05 on Thursday December 18 in both 2D and 3D.
Both of these are nearly sold out so if you want to be one of the first to see the film the advice is to book tickets quickly.
Caoimhin McClafferty, Operations Manager from the cinema, said the demand for tickets has ‘taken us by surprise’.
‘We knew it was going to be big. The demand so far has been phenomenal’.
‘We have done this with other franchise’s in the past, like The Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings and for our special showing of Back To The Future tomorrow. But Star Wars has becoming our fastest selling tickets ever’.
Huge demand for the tickets has seen many cinema’s website crash across the UK.
Thankfully for Derry people keen to get their hands on the tickets, Brunswick Moviebowl ensured their infrastructure was able to handle it.
