Derry fashion store, Chocolate Clothing, is swapping Foyle Street for the West Midlands town of Solihull.
Founded in 2007 by Derry brothers David and Barry Conaghan, Chocolate Clothing, was one of the North’s leading young fashion clothing retailers.
Stocking over 70 fashion brands the business went on to export clothes to 80 countries all over the world after it made a success of online retail in 2010.
After numerous top industry awards later and after scooping Best Independent Irish Fashion Retailer at the Pure London Awards in February and being a finalist in the Drapers Fashion Awards London in September, Chocolate Clothing is changing its direction.
The Derry born retailer has announced significant growth plans following investment from the Griffin Corporation.
The investment has triggered a change of direction for the retailer that sees Chocolate Clothing relocating its Derry flagship store to the Solihull Centre and concentrating its efforts solely on designer clothing and accessories for the newborn to 16 year-old market. The new state of the art website will be going live in January 2016.
The new store contains 3000 square feet of retail space and will have a luxurious and modern bespoke interior and a designated VIP area, again launching in January 2016.
David Conaghan, Managing Director said: “We wanted to expand our operations and after considerable research decided to locate our new flagship store in Solihull. There is no real luxury store that caters for designer clothing for newborn to 16-year-olds. This is a very exciting time for us and this will take the Chocolate brand to the next level and into luxury childrenswear sector which is now a billion dollar industry with the rise and popularity of the likes of the Beckham and Kardashion kids,” he said.
