The Derry Journal has been inundated with enquiries from readers looking to adopt one of the ten pups put into box and abandoned in a garden earlier this week.

Although the incident happened in Co. Down at the weekend, ‘Journal’ readers got in touch after the story and video was shared on our website and Facebook page.

The pups are currently in the care of the USPCA in Newry.

Although all of the pups are doing well the USPCA said the animals must complete a quarantine period before they can be re-homed.

“They will now go through a quarantine period, receive the treatment they need and once they are fit and healthy will be put up for adoption in a few weeks time. We are not taking enquiries about re-homing them just yet,” said a spokesperson for the USPCA.
