Derry plaque to honour International Brigade

A bronze plaque honouring the 24 North West men who enlisted to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War is to be unveiled in Derry. The unveiling will form part of a series of events planned locally to mark the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.

Organised by the North West Spanish Civil War Project, established to honour those from counties Derry, Tyrone and Donegal who played a role in the International Brigades, the event aims to ensure the 24 local men who went to Spain in the fight against fascism are never forgotten. The date for the unveiling has still to be decided but more information is available by emailing
