Derry modelling success Tabea Weyrauch is hoping to enjoy the Jazz Festival this weekend during a whirlwind visit home.
The former Foyle College pupil who beat off stiff competition on RTE’s ‘The Model Scouts’ in 2010 has been travelling non stop with IMG models since landing a prestigious contract which sees her represented by the same agents who work with Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen.
Tabea, who was born in Hamburg, was among the models who opened London Fashion Week in February and flew back home to Derry last weekend after a two month stint in Tokyo.
She’s also worked in Singapore and New York since being crowned the winner of the popular TV show,
Speaking to the Journal after arriving back in Derry the stunning 19-year-old said she was thrilled with the opportunities winning the show has given her.
“I’ve really enjoyed doing so many shows all over the world and was especially thrilled when I got to open London Fashion week this season at the Antoni and Alison show,” she said.
“I also loved spending time in Singapore and Tokyo, as it was the first time I worked in Asia.
“I loved those cities as I found the life and culture to be very different and exciting.
“That is one of the things that I really value about my experience in working internationally.”
Tabea is keen to spend time with family and friends at her home in the Waterside before her work sees her jet off for a show in Milan in the coming days.
She is still in regular contact with her model scouts mentors who first noticed her striking looks and figure during an open audition in Foyleside.
“I have regular contact with Jeni, who continues to oversee my development and schedule, including deciding which countries I will work in,” she says.
As for the coming days, the busy model said she’s keen to catch up and take some time to relax.
“I’m going to make the most of being back home, go out to the Jazz festival and spend lots of time with the family,” she said.
