A young Derry man has appeared in a new TV advert promoting the forthcoming series of ‘The X-Factor’.
Local people have spotted the singer in the audition teaser, and it appears from the footage clip which has emerged that head judge Simon Cowell was impressed with the vocal talent of Conor McGinty.
Conor is well know to local audiences as a regular performer in venues across Derry city centre.
The 21-year-old is understood to be from the Foyle Road area of the city and now lives in Carrigans.
It is not known how he got on in the show, but the signs seem positive from the brief promotional advert, which features a few positive auditions.
The new series of ‘The X-Factor’ is due to launch on ITV later this month.
The renewed line-up of judges is set to include familiar faces, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, along with Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell.
Dermot O’Leary will also be back this year as host. It was recently announced on the official ‘X-Factor’ website that Matt Edmondson will be the new face of ITV2’s ‘The Xtra Factor’.
In a change to the spin off show’s format, Xtra will be going live from the first episode, bringing viewers instant access to contestants and the reaction to their auditions.
TV host and Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp meanwhile will be joining ‘The X Factor’ team this year as their digital presenter.
