A disused factory in Strabane has collapsed after a fire.

Police are advising the public to avoid the area around the factory in Ballycolman industrial estate.

The fire at the disused factory was reported to PSNI at around 4:30pm yesterday. Around eight Fire Service appliances brought the blaze under control.

Police say the building is in a “dangerous condition.”

Sinn Féin Councillor Brian McMahon said: “I will be speaking to the Council’s Environment Health Department shortly to see what measures be taken to secure the site in the short-term given the major danger it now presents, particularly to any young person attempting to enter the unstable buildings.”
