Much loved local entertainer Dougie Breslin will no doubt add touch of glamour to the city centre, with his Rat Pack Night at the Dungloe Bar every Monday evening from 10pm-12pm.
Expect Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darren, Sammy Davis, Michael Buble, and many more hits from a bygone era every Monday at the Dungloe Bar.
Dougie Breslin is celebrating 10 years of singing Sinatra and his peers. The music has taken him all over the world even to Las Vegas where he even sang at Sinatra’s old homestead ‘The Riviera’.
Dougie has fronted 15-piece bands, toured with ‘The Drifters’ , held residencies in Spain, Germany and the UK as well as performing in New York and Philadelphia.
In Ireland he has showcased at the famous K Club in Dublin for the Smurfits, and Belfast’s Waterfront Hall. He also sang for President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. Recently Dougie has taken time to record his own material returning to his roots as a singer songwriter of songs pertaining to local topics and people. He released his first solo project in 2010 ‘Amhran Eala’ (Swan Song) featuring a host of top musicians from Derry and Donegal. One of the album’s songs, ‘Jackie’, was dedicated to Dougie’s teenage cousin who died on Bloody Sunday and became an instant hit locally and internationally, receiving 5,000 hits on YouTube almost immediately.
Dougie released his second CD ‘Man Behind the Scene’ in December again filled with local musicians showcasing the wealth of talent in Derry.
Public demand pushed him to go back into the Blast Furnace studio to record a ‘Greatest Hits’ of his favourite Rat Pack songs to mark a decade of performances, and the CD has sold out continually. Kevin Daly, proprietor of The Dungloe Bar, asked Dougie to don his Tuxedo and try to establish a regular Rat Pack night for the local people of Derry, and also to entertain the many visitors to this wonderful city who would enjoy listening to the Classic tunes of a bygone era.
Dougie says: “I know it will take a while to get the word out, but I have made a lot of friends over the years who love to listen and to sing these brilliant songs! and I look forward to seeing them at the Dungloe and duetting with some great singers from Derry.”
You can catch Dougie’s Rat Pack Show at the Dungloe Bar on Waterloo Street every Monday night, from 10pm till 12am. Don’t miss one of the city’s finest musical exports! www.dougiebreslin.com
