Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue branded the latest in a series of incidents “disgraceful”.

The paint bombing at the weekend is the latest in a series at the community and advice centre in the heart of the Bogside.

Colr. Logue said: “This is a disgraceful attack and has happened as Dove House and other community groups in the area get ready for the Gasyard Féile providing dozens of events for local people young and old.”

She added: “The continued attacks on this vital community facility just seem to be relentless and are having a terrible impact on the staff there being able to provide the many services they do.

“There is also a cost to each time these acts of criminal damage are carried out and that cannot go on indefinitely without impacting on the budgets of the services provided.”

The manager of Dove House recently warned that young vandals who have targeted the centre are harming their own families and communities.

Bronagh McMenamin was speaking following a recent episode in which youths tried to set fire to materials piled up against the premises.

The youths also knocked coping stones off a side wall.
