Derry drivers have been warned to be extra careful on the roads after the clocks go back this weekend.
Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly urged motorists to exercise caution during the onset of the longer winter nights.
“I would urge all those using our roads in the north west to be careful at all times.
“I would also encourage people to remember the key messages contained in the road safety advertisements over the years, pay attention, expect the unexpected, slow down, always wear your seatbelt and never drink and drive.
“It is important to remember that behind every death or serious injury statistic, there is a wide family circle and a network of friends left behind to pick up the pieces,” he said.
