Education Minister John O’Dowd has approved a development proposal to decrease enrolments at Steelstown Primary School in Derry.
Commenting on the decision, the Minister said: “Approved admissions and enrolment numbers at a school must be managed carefully and any permanent changes must align with the principles of my Department’s area planning process.
“In this case, I agree that this proposal is a practical and reasonable one.
“I am content to approve the proposed reductions in enrolments, from 657 to 490, and in admissions, from 90 to 70 as they are reflective of the current and anticipated demand.
“These revised admissions and enrolment numbers will be effective from September 2015.”
