A Limavady woman who admitted throwing an egg out a window as a band parade was taking place has been fined £250 for disorderly behaviour.

Dannielle McGinley, whose address was given as Connell Street, was sentenced at Limavady Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The court heard on December 13, 2014, a band parade was taking place on Connell Street when an egg was thrown from an upstairs window.

A verbal complaint was made and, when police investigated, 23-year-old McGinley admitted throwing an egg out the window by accident, and said she had been having an egg fight with a friend.

The court heard police found a broken egg inside the flat.

A Prosecution solicitor said it was a “reckless throwing of the egg”.

A defence solicitor said McGinley had been involved in a “messing about session” in the flat, and alcohol had been consumed.

“It was not a sectarian motivated attack,” said the solicitor.

District Judge Liam McNally told McGinley it was fortunate the Prosecution had said it was a reckless not sectarian attack.

In addition to the fine, McGinley must pay a £15 offender levy.
