He said he plans to meet with the PSNI, Social Services and “other relevant bodies” in a bid to address the issues.

Speaking after what he described as “a show of solidarity” organised by residents on Monday night, Colr. McGlinchey said: “I welcome the local community taking the initiative and showing support to their affected neighbours. However, it is regrettable that it has came to this, but we will strive to resolve the problems as soon as possible.

“The residents here have taken the oppurtunity to voice their fears and provided various horrible examples of the problems they are facing to the PSNI and I am confident the issues raised have been taken on board.”

“We have elderly couples and young families living in fear as they witness the most disturbing scenes regularly.”

He added: “I will bring the relevant bodies together, including respresentatives of the community group to move this forward, and people in the estate can get back to living in peace.”
