Enjoy Fahan’s Family Fun Day

Fahan Presbyterian Church has organised a family Fun Day tomorrow and is inviting everyone from the local community, as well as summer visitors, along. The Fun Day will take place tomorrow, from 1.00pm until 4.00pm. Admission is free and there will be all of the usual attractions, including face-painting and bouncy castles. Hopefully the weather will stay fine.

Our sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Billy Buchanan, formerly of Castlecooley in Burt. A Senior Elder in Burt Presbyterian Church, Mr Buchanan passed away in Buncrana Nursing Unit, in his 87th year. His funeral took place from Castlecooley on Monday, July 14, to Burt Presbyterian Church, where a Thanksgiving Service took place.

We offer our sympathy to Hughie Burke, Carrowen, Burt, on the death of his sister, Peggy Briggs, London, formerly of Newtown. Our sympathies also to the families and friends of: Patricia Curran (nee McGee), Coshquin, formerly of Toulette, Burt who was buried in Burt cemetery; Gerald Campbell, formerly Bonemaine and Toulette Burt; and Norma Whiteman, Knightbridge, Derry, formerly of Castlecooley, Burt. 

The Month’s Mind Mass for Bernie McDermott will take place in St. Aengus Church tomorrow at 6pm. 

Thanks to all who contributed so generously to the Donegal Hospice Collection. It raised 70 euro at Inch and 357 euro at Burt.

Talented Burt singer, Róisín Carlin is appearing in ‘Take to the Floor’ in the Millennium Forum, on August 9. Directed and produced by Paula Goulding and Shane McAvinchey, 60 of the world’s leading Irish dancers; one of the most sought after traditional bands of our time ‘Beoga’; and a dream creative team will bring audiences a unique, energetic and original show.

Róisín finished in fourth place in the Take the Floor competition! She thanked everyone who voted for her. All that’s left to do now is to wait and see who the judges pick.

The Swilly Gardening Club will meet on Monday, July 21 at Anglers’ Centre. Please note we are meeting at 6.30pm sharp, as we will visit gardens in Greencastle and Quigley’s Point. Booking is essential. Contact: 0863573145 or 0862758803 for further information.

The crowds will be flocking to the 2014 Irish National Sheep Dog Trials, which take place in Burt, on An Grianan Estate from July 24 to 26. We hope the weather stays fine.

A Car boot sale will take place in Muff Community Park, Ardmore, between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday, July 27. The cost is 10 euro per car. There are limited tables available. Please call 074 9384572 to book. 

Summer Serenity at the IOSAS Centre and Celtic Garden, Derryvane, Muff, on Wednesday, July 30, August 13 and August 27. Join us for an afternoon of food, faith and fun. Hot lunch will be served at 12:30pm. There will then be a tour of the Celtic Garden and a short healing service and blessing, followed by music and story-telling until 4pm. Burt Bingo takes place every Tuesday evening at 9pm in St Mary’s Hall. A book and sheet cost 9 euro.
