A PSNI spokesperson said police received a report on 14 May “that a man has posted on Facebook asking for females to take part in an online audition to be a model”.

“He carried out interviews over Skype with two females in the Ballymoney area in which he asked to see various parts of their bodies. This was then reported to police,” said a PSNI spokesperson.

On their Facebook page on Tuesday, PSNI Limavady said: “We would like to remind everyone to be wary over who contacts you on Facebook and what information you share with them, even if you have mutual friends.

“If someone contacts you claiming to be from a modelling agency do not take their word for it, do some research on the company.

“Never do something online that you wouldn’t do in public.

“If you have been affected by an incident like this, please report it to police on 101.”
