Family Fun Day at Tullagh Equestrian Centre

Tullagh Bay Equestrian Centre, in Clonmany, is holding its annual Charity Family Fun Day this Sunday, May 3rd from 12 noon to 5pm in aid of Donegal Hospice, Buddy Bears(Helping children with Cerebral Palsy) and a local charity. The event was a great success last year with hundreds of people enjoying a fun day and it’s going to be even bigger and better this year with even more attractions. There will be loads for the kids to do with bouncy castles, face painting and sports events and the adults will also be catered for with music, craft demonstrations, a tractor run and a 5kbeach walk/run.

The Vintage Tractor run will commence at 12 noon and last year more than 50 tractors took part last year, so get the polish out and shine up the old work horse. The 5km beach walk or run will take place at 1pm. For anyone training for the Couch to 5km this will be a lovely relaxing circuit to keep you motivated. For the keen runner this 5km will be a little bit different as two thirds of it will be on the beach.

The Inishowen Horse Shoe Pitching Association will be running a competition throughout the day. Opportunities will be given to anyone over the age of 14 to learn this skill.

The craft fair will showcase all the amazing talent in the area with a number of local crafters demonstrating their skills. Johnny Shields from Carndonagh will demonstrate the craft of spinning, weaving and wood turning, while Eileen Welsh from The Parish, Buncrana will demonstrate the craft of stained glass and Carol Mc Daid from Glebe, Clonmany will demonstrate the craft of glassware.

We hope to also demonstrate the craft of basket weaving. There will be a chance to purchase all the handmade crafts.

The organisers are hoping for glorious sunshine on Sunday but even if the sun does not shine they’ve appealed people to still come along and support these three great causes. If the weather is unkind the event will still go ahead as the Equestrian Centre has a large indoor facility where it can be held.

Tullagh Bay Equestrian is asking anyone who is on facebook to please like and share its post on the event so that we can spread the word and raise the maximum amount of money for its three charities. Make it a real family day out there is something for everyone from young to old. Hopefully we will see you on the day. Come along and bring your family and friends.
