Final preparations as MTV comes to Derry
The organisers of this weekend's Club MTV concert have issued advice to those attending the event.
Legacy Promotions, who are running the huge gig at Ebrington in partnership with MTV, have urged those attending to plan ahead.
A number of traffic restrictions will be in place tomorrow to facilitate the crowds expected to be gathering to witness superstar DJ Martin Garrix and a host of other top acts on stage.
A spokesman for Legacy Promotions said: “This event is attracting thousands of spectators and to ensure everyone has the best possible time, it’s important for people to take a few minutes to plan ahead.
“A number of ‘no parking’ restrictions will be in place around Ebrington on September 10 (tomorrow).
“There will be increased traffic into and out of the city so everyone is advised to allow extra time for this when travelling.”
The spokesman added that there were restrictions over what can be brought to the site, with searches in operation. Food and drink, chairs, umbrellas, flags, flares, glass and illegal substances will be confiscated. Wearing of sport tops and political emblems is also prohibited.
Each person will be allowed to take up to 500mls on site as long as it is in a plastic container with an unbroken seal. Food and drink will be available to but at Ebrington.
The two gates at the Peace Bridge and St Columb’s Park open at 4.00 pm for the concert, and queueing could take up to an hour at peak periods, and all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of three children per adult.
