Police are still working to establish the cause of a fire which killed 46 year old Waterside man, William Robb at the weekend.

Mr. Robb tragically lost his life in the early hours of Saturday morning after his first floor Kilfennan flat was engulfed by flames.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire crews from Crescent Link and Northland Road stations responded to a report of a fire in a flat in Winchester Park in the Kilfennan area.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus discovered the first floor property well alight and attacked the fire using hosereel jets and a covering jet. Sadly the body of a 46 year old man was located in the flat.

“PSNI and NIFRS officers are investigating the cause of the blaze.”

April Garfield-Kidd of the DUP and SDLP councillor, Gerard Diver offered their sympathies to the family of Mr. Robb.
